As the sun sets on the final day of the year, imagine a small wooden bridge stretching across a wide, flowing river. This bridge, they say, marks the boundary between what has been and what is yet to come. For every woman who crosses it, there is a moment to pause—a sacred time to reflect on the lessons of the past and to gather the courage to step into the unknown.
That evening, a woman named Naya stood at the edge of this bridge, her hands clutching a satchel filled with the stories of her year—moments of triumph, days of uncertainty, lessons hard-won, and dreams still waiting to be fulfilled.
Before her stood the bridgekeeper, her presence calm and reassuring. “Before you cross,” she said, “you must decide what to carry with you and what to leave behind. Each step forward will demand focus and courage.” Naya hesitated. “How do I know what to keep and what to let go of?”
The bridgekeeper gestured toward the river below. Its steady current flowed, unwavering. “The river teaches us this: what belongs to the past must return to it. What holds the promise of growth will find its place in the future. Reflect on your year. What lessons have you learned? What dreams still burn brightly? What weight no longer serves you?”
With care, Naya opened her satchel. One by one, she examined its contents. A triumph from a project once thought unattainable—this, she decided, would stay as a reminder of her potential. The sting of a missed opportunity—this, she released, choosing instead to carry the resilience it had taught her.
With each decision, her satchel grew lighter but more purposeful. Finally, she took her first step onto the bridge, each creaking plank beneath her feet a reminder that moving forward demands intention, courage, and trust.
Standing at Your Own Bridge
As the year draws to a close, you, too, stand at the edge of a bridge—a bridge that divides the past from the future. In your hands is a satchel brimming with memories, lessons, and experiences from the past year.
To cross this bridge, you must pause and reflect:
What lessons will you carry forward?
What burdens will you leave behind?
What dreams will you nurture in the new season?
Each step forward becomes an act of purpose—a commitment to embrace growth, resilience, and intentionality as you walk boldly into the future.
The end of the year is not just a finish line; it’s an opportunity to recalibrate and realign with your purpose. It’s an invitation to:
Reflect on the triumphs and trials that have shaped you.
Release fears, doubts, or habits that no longer serve you.
Renew your commitment to bold dreams and purposeful action.
For women in mentorship, this process is particularly meaningful. Your growth empowers those who look to you for guidance. Every lesson learned becomes a story to share, and every dream pursued becomes a beacon of hope for others.
